Recreation & Dining
You will find many activities at Nail Bay! Swim, snorkel, play tennis, float in our lagoon pool, rent a sailboat, go parasailing, play on the beach, scuba dive, hike, fish, visit the Baths, and explore Virgin Gorda ... to name just a few of the many things to do!
Snorkeling
You will find some of the best snorkeling in the British Virgin Islands right off our three beaches. Beginners will find that Mountain Trunk Bay offers an easy introduction with a gently sloping sandy beach and lots of spectacular coral and tropical fish very close to shore. The more experienced can explore some of the coral caverns just beyond Nail Bay and Long Bay beaches. It doesn't come much better than this and all are just a short walk from your accommodation!
Take a momment to view some of the beautiful sites awaiting you along Nail Bay's Coral Trail
Our Swimming Pools and Hot tub
When it's time to rinse off the salt and sand after another hard day at the beach, what better than a dip in our freshwater pools or steam in our hot tub, all set among landscaped boulder gardens.
Sailing
If you would like to make the most of our perfect sailing conditions, we can arrange a BVI day sail for you. Let us know if you would like a private charter (around $600 a day) or if you would prefer a little company with which to share your experience and the cost.
Powerboats, Sailing & Parasailing
These are available from Leverick Bay Watersports, just a short drive from Nail Bay. In addition to offering expert water skiing instruction, this very professional company will rent you all sorts of sail and powerboats. Try one of their 8 hp dinghies, perfect for beginners and excellent for exploring the North Sound, Virgin Gorda. Or try your hand at parasailing and see our beautiful Islands from the air.
Tennis, Bocce & Croquet
For our more active guests who would rather not spend their whole vacation relaxing on the beach, we've provided a lighted tennis court, bocce pitch and croquet lawn.
Beaches
Nail Bay Resort has two gorgeous white sand beaches lining the property, plus a third one only a short distance away. They are lined with coconut palms and lush tropical foliage.
Mountain Trunk Bay Beach has a wonderful, sandy beach with very easy swimming and fascinating snorkeling. Great for beginners, but take a little care if the swell is up which happens from time to time in the winter months.
Enjoy a walk along Nail Bay Beach first thing in the morning or at sunset to soak up the peace and quiet. Because of the reef, swimming can be a little trickier from this beach. For the more adventurous, a nip over the shallows will be rewarded with some of the best snorkeling on the island.
Those looking for a longer walk (you can drive there if you prefer) can scale the boulders at the north end of Nail Bay Beach to reach Long Bay, a beautiful bay with excellent swimming and snorkeling - it is almost deserted! Don't tell anyone. This beach is our little secret!
Nail Bay Spa
Relax, rejuvinate, revive… at the Spa at Nail Bay. After a day of sailing, how about the special Sailor's Massage, designed to relieve fatigue and those sore muscles? Or for those who stayed ashore for a day at the beach, an Aloe Wray, using locally grown aloe to rehydrate sunburned skin? Whatever your needs, the Spa can provide personalized and skilled services. Just call the front office to make an appointment for your Spa treat!
Dining
Picture yourself... sipping on a Pina Colada, nibbling on an Island delicacy at Virgin Gorda's only swim up bar, as the sun disappears into the Caribbean Sea. Heaven!
SUGARCANE Bar & Grill
Using local sugarcane found on the Nail Bay property in some of his dishes, Chef Martin has created an innovative and popular Caribbean menu at the Sugar Cane Bar & Grill.
Chef Martin's Caribbean flair is coupled with European training in his native Germany. Having felt the call of the islands, he joined the staff of the South Hampton Princess in Bermuda, and has since positions as Executive Chef at the Port ‘O’Call Seafood Restaurant in Bermuda before moving to the Cayman Islands to take over the helm at the Caribbean Club, Lantana’s and then the Lobster Pot, one of Grand Cayman’s oldest and most popular restaurants.
Lured to the lovely and pristine Virgin Gorda, Chef Martin continues to weave his Caribbean magic at the Sugar Cane Bar & Grill, where he looks forward to tantalizing you with Crispy Mango Prawns, Sesame Encrusted Tuna, BBQ Ribs, or Pork & Onion Goulash. View our menu.
